Portable Bluetooth speakers have been around for awhile. I’ve been tempted several times to try one… even got my husband one as a Christmas present a few years ago. I didn’t dive in, tho, until this speaker was advertised on the Treasure Truck. To be honest, I had been looking for an excuse to go to a Treasure Truck location — I find the whole idea charming and whacky — but I hadn’t been truly motivated to purse the Treasure Truck until this speaker was offered. I am delighted to say that both the speaker and the Treasure Truck lived up to my expectations. If you have a Treasure Truck in your city, try it out. Just follow the trail bubbles and heavy bass line. And, if you’ve been wavering about Bluetooth speakers, waver no more. The sound volume and quality are impressive given its size, which is slightly smaller than a baseball. Obviously, it’s super portable and, so far, the battery life has been amazing. It’s USB-rechargeable, which is a blessing and curse, but I’m hopeful.I am hosting a party soon and plan on getting a few more of these to have music all over the backyard without blasting it all over the neighborhood. My neighbors will never be the wiser. 🙂

I absolutely love it. I was comparing many speakers to it (including the JBL and Bose mini speakers) but I’m so happy with my choice. Hooks onto my hammock and backpack. The color is beautiful. It’s actually pretty loud for its size. I have it at half volume and it’s still pretty loud. Recommend to everyone!!!!

My wife listens to music on her phone nearly all day while she is working and lounging around the house on her days off. The unfortunate part is that she listens with the speakers on the phone, which for me is like listening to nails on a chalkboard or a room full of screaming cats/children! Fast forward to a friend’s party where someone pulled this little baby out and started streaming music on it. Wow! I whipped out my phone, popped open the Amazon app, and bought one immediately, right there at the party. This little thing packs a nice punch for the size and price! Now don’t get me wrong, you’re not going to have a dance party with 100 people in a warehouse with it, but for its intended purpose, it is REALLY nice. The sound quality is excellent! Bonus: if you buy two, you can pair them together and stream through 2 speakers at a time! It takes 3 hours to fully charge from dead, but it lasts for days. I think my wife says she charges it every 3-4 days, and she is probably streaming music for 3-6 hours a day with it. It is about the size of a soda can in diameter, and a little shorter, like maybe 2/3rds the size of a 12 oz can. Wife loves that she can pop it in her bag and take it anywhere: to the beach, out in the yard, poolside, etc. Also love that it is water and dust proof, as wife can sometimes be a little aloof and careless with tech. This baby is goof-proof! No more coming home and hearing good music massacred by the tinny sound if smartphone speakers! Music to my ears!

At the age of 71, I know a thing or two about music and what it should sound like coming from a speaker. I also know what it should NOT sound like. Music should sound lively and fun. The melodic and rhythmic tones should not be buried behind a sinister dark curtain that turns it into a sloppy, murky mess.I wanted a small portable speaker to toss into a travel bag. The Sony SRS-XB12 got me there, but not until after a long and exhausting journey. YouTube is a good place to audition speakers. Use headphones and keep in mind the sad state of some of the home microphones being used. A speaker this small has obvious limitations. I am amazed at the clarity of vocals and instruments, as well as the natural tones of the bass.Keep in mind that bass tones are made by plucking the strings of a bass guitar. Even synthesized bass sounds better when it comes through clearly instead of muffled. Sony’s previous model of this speaker, the XB10 has too much of that nasty, muddy sound. And here’s another important note. Even the young hipsters of today’s generation should appreciate quality when they listen to recorded noise that one might hesitate to call “music.” If a rapper is ranting about killing police or which drugs are the coolest, it probably would help his fans if they could clearly hear the lyrics. (Or maybe not).Either way, the Sony engineers nailed it on this little gem of a speaker. Whether you prefer the mellow joyfulness of Dean Martin’s “Magic Is the Moonlight” or rocking to the Ventures’ 1962 knockout rendition of Sandy Nelson’s “Let There Be Drums,” this speaker will handle it superbly. Even some of the crazy modern stuff that doesn’t make sense actually sounds lifelike and fun on this speaker! And, get this. To pair a device with Bluetooth, all you have to do is turn it on and press the power button for 3 seconds. A blue will blink and immediately pair with your device. You even get a choice of several nifty colors.

Wife and I are Octogenarians with hearing issues.Purchased one Sony XB12, worked as soon as I turned it on connecting via Bluetooth with Samsung 65 inch smart TV.Purchased second XB12 and used add feature, Wow!!, far superior sound than TV speakers and both of us are able to understand all of the words even on medium volume setting. Really impressed.Have been using Sennheiser R175 wireless and I prefer these Sony Speakers which cost less than a 4th of the RS 175 dual Headsets. So far Battery life has not been a issue. My only con is, TV remote control of sound is not available with Bluetooth connection.Happy camper.UPDATE; After a week of use still impressed with these little speakers. Have no problem with batteries lasting. Great product !!!

I was in search of a speaker replacement for a JamTouch speaker I had for several years. The battery started going on it, it started skipping, and it became frustrating when it would then die.I ran across this speaker during a flash deal Amazon was running, liked the price, the reviews, and the size looked to be very similar to my old speaker. This speaker performs as good, if not better than my JamTouch, and I can listen to my music uninterrupted again. Packs a nice punch for its size, and for its intended use has a great sound quality. I highly recommend.

Used it for the first time today. Played golf and it was on for about 5 hours. Sound quality is very good. I can’t comment on how loud it gets bc I was on the golf course, but regardless, the sound is great. It paired very easily with my Note9 cell. If you’re looking for something that doesn’t take up a lot of space and sounds good, then I’d recommend this one. I’m impressed. Review part 2: I used it on Saturday for about 4 hours and then again on Sunday for about 4 more hours just on one charge. It lasted the entire time and the sound stayed awesome. I am really liking it. It is small enough to put anywhere in or on the golf cart. Glad I got it…… Update: It dropped out of the golf cart yesterday (my fault) and I drove directly over it on the cart path. It kept playing the entire time. It’s a tough little thing.

I had a small JamBox speaker that I used for business travel and camping for about 5 years and it bit the dust. I had demo’d this Sony at Target and was impressed by its sound – much better than JamBox in just a slightly larger form factor. I’ve had it now for about 2 months and really like it.Pros:- Great battery life – I am going on 2 days without charging it, streaming via bluetooth about 8 hours per day mix of from phone and an echo dot, and still going. I want to see how long it will really go. Impressive!- Fairly full sound if you have it near a wall or corner.Cons:- Out in the open it looses some of the sound quality. Like most of these small speakers it needs something to bounce the sound off of.- It has a push button on/off. When I travel I am afraid it will get pressed in and will turn on and I will end up with a dead speaker upon arrival at the destination. This has not happened yet with 3 trips. The Jambox had a slide on/off.Unknown:- It has a mic so I think I could use this for phone calls when paired with my phone but I have not tried it.- Can also pair with a second one for stereo sound, also not tried.Well worth the money.UPDATE: I had this outside with me a little farther than the distance I used my Jam speaker at. The Jam speaker at this distance was spotty via Bluetooth. This Sony has better Bluetooth range by far.

Great sounding mini speaker, considering how small it is. It is loud indoors. Haven’t yet tried outdoors so not sure how it is out there. Bluetooth connectivity is a breeze. Battery life is good. The bass is good for its size. Of course it’s a small speaker so I’m not expecting it to sound like party. I’m not a bass head. I sometimes find heavy bass annoying so I was worried of the “extra bass” I almost didn’t buy this. Good thing the bass isn’t too overwhelming, it is just the right amount and to my liking. The clarity is good enough for me.If you’re not an audiophile then forget about the bad reviews coz truth is the sound isn’t terrible at all. If you try songs with high quality format you’ll appreciate it more. The only thing I don’t like about this is that there’s no option to turn off the bluetooth.Note, if battery is running low the volume automatically drops even when it’s in max so make sure you charge it first. I noticed the neg reviews about “low volume/not loud enough” are from people who just opened the box. This speaker is definitely loud for its small size.

This little speaker has some of the best sound I’ve ever heard from a bluetooth speaker at this price range. The driver Sony employs is of a very high quality. The sound coming out of this diminutive speaker is very satisfying and can get quite loud. The bass is quite good, highs are clear, and mids are solid. Setup and connection was very quick and easy, look for SRS-XB12. I have been listening to this with music and movies for the past few hours while charging it at the same time. I like the cute little carry handle, never seen that feature before. There is a small rubber ring at the bottom to keep the unit from sliding around.
